JEJU ISLAND:
Gaganjeet Bhullar looked in ominous form as he struck a quadruple of birdies before bad weather halted the Indian's march, leaving him four-under with two holes to go in the opening round of the Ballantine's Golf Championship on Thursday.
A 10th tee starter, Bhullar was on the eighth hole when play was abandoned due to darkness. Only 36 players managed to complete their opening rounds while the rest of the field will resume at 7am (local time) on Friday.
Bhullar struck five birdies against a lone bogey so far.
The Kapurthala-pro opened his day with a birdie on the 10th and made the turn one-under after paring the remaining eight holes.
The front-nine started with a bogey for him but he more then made up for it with four back-to-back birdies to be at the tied sixth spot when play was suspended.
Rest of the Indians in fray, Anirban Lahiri, Jyoti Randhawa, Himmat Rai, C Muniyappa, Shiv Kapur were yet to tee off.
At the top, Australia's Marcus Fraser fired an opening seven-under 65 to take the clubhouse lead.
Fraser posted a blemish-free round for a single-shot lead over England's Mark Foster who carded a 66 to take second place at the $2.9 million event that is sanctioned by the Asian Tour, European Tour and the Korea PGA.
Korea's Ted Oh returned with a 67 in near darkness to take a share of third place alongside Australia's Rick Kulacz and Wales' Jamie Donaldson who are at five-under through 17 and 16 holes respectively.
The early starters only managed to play through six holes until play was suspended for close to five hours due to heavy fog that marred visibility at the Pinx Golf Club.
