Hockey players wait for award

NEW DELHI: After they had won the Asian Champions Trophy in September last year, national hockey players were promised cash awards by many state governments.
But they are still waiting for the money.
"We don't play for the country for money. But if somebody has promised something, it should be given players," said captain Bharat Chetri.
He recalled that governments of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab had announced cash rewards.
The only award they have got is from the sports ministry which has already distributed Rs 1.5 lakh each of the players.
