Alex Palou finishes P2 in Nashville as Louis Foster claims Rookie of the Year title

Alex Palou concluded his dominant 2025 IndyCar season with a second-place finish at Nashville, securing his championship. Josef Newgarden won the race, while Scott McLaughlin completed the podium. Rookie Louis Foster narrowly edged out Robert Shwartzman to claim the Rookie of the Year title, capping off an exciting season finale.

Alex Palou closed the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season with a second-place finish at the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix on August 31, 2025, at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee. Third place went to Scott McLaughlin, while Josef Newgarden won the race. Following Palou's podium, rookie Louis Foster won the Rookie of the Year award by barely two points ahead of Robert Shwartzman in the final classification.

Alex Palou adds one more podium to his championship season

Already secured the championship before the final, Alex Palou proved his strength once more in Nashville. While Palou crossed the finish line second, Josef Newgarden made a late surge to take first in front of home fans in the 225-lap race. Scott McLaughlin filled the podium.
Palou had one of the most dominant seasons in recent IndyCar history in 2025. Driving the No. 10 Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing, he won eight times and finished thirteen times in seventeen events, including triumphs at St. Petersburg, Road America, and the Indianapolis 500. His steady performance also brought Honda its seventh IndyCar producers' title.After the race, Palou admitted he wanted to end with a win but was still pleased with the result.
“We had the speed, but traffic made it tough. I’m happy with P2 and to celebrate this championship with the team and Honda,” Palou said in the post-race press conference.

Louis Foster edges Robert Shwartzman for Rookie of the Year

Although Palou revelled in his title, the rookie competition drew attention when Louis Foster of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing won the Rookie of the Year award. With 213 points, Foster just beat Robert Shwartzman's 211 to end the season. Including his first career pole position at Road America, the 21-year-old British driver dazzled with constant runs all year.After clinching the award, Foster said, “This means a lot. It was one of our biggest goals, and we managed to get it right at the end. I can’t thank my team and Honda enough.”
