Alex Pereira has confirmed that his short-lived relationship with fellow UFC fighter Tracy Cortez has come to an end. The announcement came just days after the pair went public and caught the attention of the MMA world. Their relationship became public at the start of 2026, when both fighters shared New Year celebrations on social media. The photos and videos of the couple kissing went viral.
Pereira opened up on the matter through his Instagram stories. He thanked fans for their support and explained that the decision to part ways was mutual. He said that while they shared meaningful moments but they felt it was better for both of them to move on. Pereira added that he wishes Cortez success and happiness in her future journey.
Alex Pereira focuses on his MMA career amid breakup with Tracy Cortez
The breakup marks another personal chapter for Alex Pereira, who has been open about his past. He was previously married and is a father to two sons. Tracy Cortez, meanwhile, was in a long-term and high-profile relationship with Brian Ortega. That relationship ended in 2023, though neither spoke publicly about the reasons at the time.
Despite the personal news, Pereira remains one of the UFC’s biggest stars. However, he is currently sidelined after suffering a broken foot and is focusing on recovery. Cortez continues to compete in the tough flyweight division. She is looking to bounce back after a submission loss to Erin Blanchfield late last year.
At the same time, questions remain around a potential superfight between Pereira and Jon Jones.
Jones has recently played down the chances of that matchup happening. He explained that while Pereira wants the fight, he does not believe UFC president Dana White is willing to make it happen. Jones suggested that the final decision depends entirely on what White wants to do next.
Jones had briefly retired before re-entering the drug testing pool, hoping to fight on a proposed White House card in June. Those plans now appear uncertain due to his strained relationship with White. The UFC boss has previously claimed that Jones stepped back from a title unification bout against Tom Aspinall. That situation reportedly frustrated White, who has since hinted at leaning on other major stars, including the star fighter Conor McGregor, for future marquee events.
