Conor McGregor, a former UFC champion, has recently taken a step to his presidential ambitions. At this time, seeking help, he has reached out to
Elon Musk, the tech billionaire for his assistance. The move comes along with the former UFC champion’s campaign to be the next President of Ireland, which has encountered a legal roadblock. With it, the campaign now faces a threat of getting struck off the ballot entirely. It’s a development that marks a dramatic turn in the mixed martial artist's sudden political move.

Elon Musk has previously shown his support for McGregor. He even took on X, writing,
“No one will fight harder for the people of Ireland than Conor McGregor!” Such public backing was a precursor to this private conversation. As of now, the nature of the assistance McGregor has been seeking from the CEO of Tesla remains undisclosed.
Conor McGregor faces campaign hurdles and legal barriers
The core issue that derailed McGregor’s campaign is the stringent election eligibility criteria of Ireland.
To secure a place on a presidential ballot, a candidate must be over the age of 35. They must also have nominations from twenty parliament members or four separate local authorities. McGregor, aged 37, has met the set age requirement. Though, he has been struggling to gather the needed political endorsements.
In a public video announcement that went circulating on social media, McGregor appealed his supporters for help. He even urged the Irish citizens to contact local councillors, demanding a change—his nomination. He even criticized the current government for consistently failing the country. His call to action further highlighted the race against the clock for meeting the nomination deadline, later in the month.
Former UFC Champion Conor McGregor’s campaign is full of controversies
McGregor’s presidential bid isn’t his only recent legal entanglement. He announced his campaign just days after the Court of Appeal in Ireland dismissed his challenge against the civil ruling. The previous decision was upheld by the court, as per which, he was found liable for sexually assaulting a woman in Dublin in 2018.
The ruling ordered McGregor to pay damages. Further legal action from the woman in question is still ongoing. The controversies fuelled significant political opposition to the candidacy of McGregor, with a poll of the Irish politicians showing the unanimous rejection of McGregor’s Presidential plan.
