Former world champion Andre Berto believes fans should not expect many surprises if
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao meet again later this year. The former boxer recently shared his thoughts on the rumored rematch and suggested the fight could look very similar to their first meeting in 2015. That bout became one of the biggest events in boxing history, although many fans felt disappointed by the lack of action inside the ring.
Talk about a second showdown between the two legends has grown in recent months. Early reports claimed the fight could be streamed globally on Netflix and may even feature Mayweather returning to official competition to protect his unbeaten professional record. However, confusion around the event continues. There are still questions about whether the matchup will be an official contest or an exhibition fight. The venue and final agreement have also not been confirmed, leaving fans uncertain about the future of the event.
Andre Berto backs Floyd Mayweather Jr against Manny Pacquiao despite rematch uncertainty
Speaking to TMZ Sports about the possible rematch, Andre Berto explained that he does not expect either fighter to deliver an aggressive or explosive performance. According to him, both men are now much older and likely to rely more on experience and ring intelligence than speed or power.
Even so, he believes the event will still attract huge attention because of the legendary rivalry between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao.
Berto also pointed out that Pacquiao appears highly motivated for another chance at Mayweather. The Filipino icon has openly spoken about wanting redemption after losing their first fight. Pacquiao recently sent a strong message to Mayweather. He urging him to stay committed "be a man" to the agreement and stop creating confusion around the event. His comments showed frustration over the uncertainty surrounding the fight plans.
Mayweather, meanwhile, has remained confident about the outcome. Berto said the undefeated American still holds a major advantage because of his deep understanding of boxing and his unmatched experience in high-pressure fights. He added that Mayweather likely agreed to the rematch because fans wanted to see him risk his perfect record once again.
Reports have also suggested that disagreements over contracts and event details may be slowing progress. Questions remain over the fight format and location, especially after Mayweather reportedly cast doubt on the proposed venue at The Sphere.
