"I crossed the line" - Florida Gators defensive lineman Brendan Bett apologizes after spitting on opponent's team member

A heat-of-the-moment action that turned into a moment of shame - Florida Gators defensive lineman, Brendan Bett, was seen spitting on University of South Florida player, Cole Skinner, during their second game of the season. The Gators lost the game 18-16 after Bett received a penalty for his actions. After the game though, Bett apologized to his team, his friends and family, and of course to Skinner and his family for his actions.Games should be clean - no dirty tactics, and definitely no spitting on each other in the heat of the moment. But Florida Gators player Brendan Bett was seen spitting on an opponent's team member, Cole Skinner, when the two teams came up against each other during their college football match. This led to Bett receiving a 15-yard penalty, which allowed the University of South Florida to secure a first down. Later, USF player Nico Gramatica kicked a 20-yard field goal, which led to USF securing its first-ever win over the Gators. Their head coach, Billy Napier, said after the game that Bett was remorseful of his actions, and then the player himself took it upon himself to apologize to everyone involved with the incident. Brendan Bett was obviously upset when his team was on the losing end against the University of South Florida. And in that moment, probably without giving it much thought, he ended up taking a step that would later come to bite him on his behind. But thankfully, he was quick to realize his mistake and apologized to everyone involved in the incident after the game. He posted a note on Instagram, writing:"I want to sincerely apologize for my actions in the game this past Saturday. I let down my teammates, coaches, family and all of Gator Nation. Our coaches always instill in us the value of sportsmanship, and I crossed the line. I also want to apologize to South Florida. That's not the person or player I strive to be. I made a terrible mistake, and it won't happen again." Bett then specifically apologized to USF's Cole Skinner, stating,"To Cole Skinner #56. There is no excuse for my actions. I am truly sorry to both you and your family."He then also apologized to his family and friends for letting them down with his actions, and took responsibility for the disappointment he caused with his regretful actions. He ended the note with a simple but powerful, "I won't let you down again." Hopefully, he will hold true to his words in the future.
