The boxing world was left in shock after Anthony Joshua survived a fatal car accident last Monday. Coming fresh off a victory against Jake Paul, Joshua flew to Nigeria for a quick getaway which seemingly proved to be a turning point in his life.The two-time heavyweight world champion was travelling in a SUV with two of his friends along with a driver, when it collided with a stationary truck. The accident claimed the lives of his friends, Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ while Joshua and the driver managed to survive with injuries. While Joshua is still recovering from his injuries, there were a lot of questions surrounding how his boxing career would proceed. However, it looks like his fight against Jake Paul could’ve been his last.

While the boxing fans were hopeful of potentially seeing a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua after the latter healed up, it looks like it won’t happen after all. During a conversation with The Punch, Adedamola Joshua, the uncle of ‘AJ’ said, “The major thing there is that he has retired from boxing. That is one thing that makes us glad because each time he is fighting in the ring, we are always carried away emotionally.”It is worth noting that there has been no official confirmation from Joshua as of yet. However, coming from a close family member, there is definitely some weight to his claim.

Adeniyi Kayode, the driver who was driving the car is set for legal trouble. He was charged with reckless driving, causing death by dangerous driving, and also driving without a valid driver’s license. As per reports, he was attempting an overtake at high speed when the car lost control and crashed into a stationary truck.What makes the incident more shocking is the report that suggested Anthony Joshua was initially sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. However, he was asked to move to the back seat by the driver which proved to be the reason he survived.
