Barcelona have already started planning for life after Robert Lewandowski, and two names are now coming up again and again. Reports say the club is looking at Chelsea forward Joao Pedro and Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth as possible replacements. This comes at a time when Lewandowski’s future is still not fully clear, even though his contract runs until June 2026.

Right now, nothing is confirmed, but there is a strong feeling that this summer could bring a big change in Barcelona’s attack. Lewandowski has been linked with moves to different leagues, including Saudi Arabia and the United States. Barcelona’s search for a new striker shows that they are thinking ahead. According to journalist Matteo Moretto, shared by Reshad Rahman, the club has picked Joao Pedro and Alexander Sorloth as two main options. Another name, Julian Alvarez, was also discussed earlier, but that deal looks difficult because of high costs and other issues.

Joao Pedro only joined Chelsea in 2025, but he has already made an impact. He scored 19 goals in 46 matches across all competitions in his first season. His contract runs until 2033, which makes any move complicated. Chelsea may not want to let him go so easily, especially after his strong performances.

On the other side, Alexander Sorloth offers a different situation. He is under contract with Atletico Madrid until 2028, but he is not always a regular starter. Even then, his numbers are solid. He has scored 19 goals in 49 appearances, though he has started only 25 of those games. This could make him a more realistic option if Barcelona decide to move quickly.

Still, nothing will happen unless a few things fall into place. Barcelona need to sort out their finances, make space in the squad, and also convince the player they choose. So, this is not a quick deal, but more of a careful plan.

At the same time, head coach Hansi Flick kept things calm when asked about Lewandowski. Speaking before the Osasuna match, he said via Barca Universal, “We’ve spoken, but that’s something between the two of us. We’re focusing on the five remaining matches. Once we’re done, we’ll talk and see what happens.”

For now, Barcelona’s full focus is on winning the LaLiga title. They are leading the table with 85 points from 33 games, sitting eleven points ahead of Real Madrid. The upcoming Clasico on May 11 could decide everything, unless results go in their favor earlier.
