Court McGee shared a shocking story on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The UFC fighter said he overdosed on heroin on September 9, 2005. He said doctors told him he was dead for eight minutes. McGee is now 40 years old. He called that day the start of his second life. He wrote on Instagram, “Every day sober is proof that hope is stronger than despair.” He posted this during National Recovery Month to thank people who helped him. He also wanted to give hope to anyone still fighting addiction.

Court McGee said the overdose happened at his cousin’s house in Utah. He said doctors revived him after he was declared clinically dead. His body had heroin, alcohol, and other drugs. After the overdose, he had to learn again how to walk and talk.
On Instagram, he wrote,
“On September 9, 2005, I overdosed on heroin and was gone for eight minutes. What should have been the end of my story became the beginning of a second chance. Today, I carry deep gratitude for recovery-for the breath in my lungs, the strength to live with purpose, and the gift of a life I almost lost. Court McGee lives in Utah with his wife, Chelsea. They have three sons, Isaac, Crew, and Nash. Nash was born in January 2021. McGee often shares posts about his family. In 2024, he posted a wedding photo and said he has been with Chelsea since high school.
In 2010, Court McGee took first place in season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter. He signed with the UFC that year as well. Currently he has more than twenty professional victories.
