Marianne Timmer says a moment at the 2026 Winter Olympics left her upset. The three time Olympic gold medalist shared that a member of rapper Snoop Dogg’s security team pushed her against a wall while she was working at the men’s 1,000 meter speed skating race on Wednesday, February 12. Timmer was at the venue to speak with Dutch skaters after the race when the incident happened.
The former Dutch speed skater spoke about it in an interview with Sportnieuws. She said she was standing near a wall in a wide hallway when security moved through the area. According to Timmer, one guard pushed her closer to the wall as they made space for Snoop Dogg, who was attending the event in support of Team USA.
Marianne Timmer, born on October 13, 1974, in Sappemeer, Netherlands, is one of the most successful Dutch speed skaters in history. She won bronze at the 1994 World Championships. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, she won gold in the 1,000 and 1,500 meters and set a world record in the 1,500 meters, according to her Olympic profile. She later won another gold medal in the 1,000 meters at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, becoming the first Dutch speed skater to win gold at two different Winter Games. After a heel injury in 2009 during a World Cup event in Thialf, she retired in December 2010, as reported by NOS.

Timmer said the guard returned moments later. “The guy came back, and I said, ‘What? Do I have to go through that wall or something?’” she shared. She claimed the guard then “started acting all up against me.”
Timmer explained she was not waiting for the rapper. She said, “I’m not here waiting for Snoop Dogg, I’m waiting for Jennings de Boo. We want to see Joep Wennemars. We want to talk to Kjeld Nuis for a moment.”
She also described seeing another Dutch person being led away by security. “We saw a Dutchman being roughly led away by some very large security guards in the stands. I could just picture myself being grabbed by the neck and thrown out. That would have been a great story,” she said. Snoop Dogg attended the race as a supporter of Team USA. In 2025, he was named Team USA’s first honorary coach.
