Alex Bregman finds Randal Grichuk as 'potential' competitor in Red Sox signing race

Alex Bregman's free agency has attracted quite some attention from fans, who have been waiting to see him in the Boston Red Sox jersey for a long while. However, there's a chance that he might not get signed with the Sox. Instead, the team might consider hiring former Arizona Diamondbacks star Randal Grichuk due to the team's limited signing years for Bregman.Throughout the offseason, there were speculations that Alex Bregman is most likely to get signed by the Red Sox. However, as the offseason comes to a conclusion, it appears less likely that Bregman will find his next home with the Sox. According to Sports Illustrated, the Red Sox have limited their offer to a 4-years contract. However, Alex Bregman has more than two 6-year-long offers in his hand. Therefore, if the Red Sox really want to acquire him, they will have to surpass other offers that Bregman currently holds.Nevertheless, there's an equally good chance that the Red Sox would end up signing former Arizona Diamondbacks star Randal Grichuk instead of Alex Bregman. In fact, according to MLB insider Ryan Finkelstein, Grichuk is a "perfect" fit for the Red Sox. Talking about the same in his latest report, Finkelstein said:"Grichuk thrived in the (platoon) role, crushing lefties to the tune of a .319/.386/.528 slash line, with a 151 wRC+ across 184 plate appearances. Grichuk would be the perfect partner for Masataka Yoshida and the Boston Red Sox. It’s not a move that would get fans excited compared to a potential Alex Bregman signing, but it would be adding a much-needed right-handed bat into the fold."The Red Sox faced quite some major struggles with lefties in the 2024 MLB season. Therefore, the team would want to add Randal Grichuk to their roster for the upcoming 2025 MLB season.
