The 2025 Major League Baseball season wrapped with defensive excellence taking center stage. On Sunday night, MLB unveiled the winners of the 68th annual Gold Glove Awards, celebrating the league’s top defenders. Across the American and National Leagues, 20 players were recognized for their exceptional skills at every position, with a mix of first-time winners and established stars reinforcing their defensive legacies.
While the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays provided one of the most thrilling World Series matchups in recent memory, their presence in the Gold Glove ceremony was limited. Ty France, who split the season between the Minnesota Twins and the Blue Jays, stood as the lone representative of the Fall Classic teams, capturing the American League Gold Glove at first base. Beyond the World Series, the awards highlighted remarkable achievements and historic streaks that defined the 2025 season.

Three players etched their names into MLB history by winning their fourth career Gold Gloves. Yankees pitcher Max Fried, Guardians left fielder Steven Kwan, and Cubs left fielder Ian Happ each achieved this milestone, showing remarkable consistency in the field.
Fried becames the fourth Yankees pitcher to win the honor and the first since Mike Mussina in 2008, adding to his previous three Gold Gloves with the Braves from 2020–22.
Kwan’s streak of four consecutive Gold Gloves in his first four MLB seasons now ranks as the third-longest career-opening streak, trailing only Ichiro Suzuki and Nolan Arenado. Happ led National League players with +9 defensive runs saved while securing his fourth consecutive award.
The night also featured several first-time winners. Dillon Dingler became the first Detroit Tiger to win a Gold Glove since Ian Kinsler in 2016. Royals duo Bobby Witt Jr. at shortstop and Maikel Garcia at third base became the first teammates to hold the left side of the infield in 12 years. St. Louis Cardinal Masyn Winn set a new record as the youngest player in franchise history to earn the award at shortstop.
