Apart from Pete Alonso, fans have been excited about Alex Bregman's signing heading into the 2025 MLB season. Unlike Alonso, who has been struggling to find his favorite deals, Bregman has multiple good offers in hand, including the $156 Million deal from the Toronto Blue Jays. However, instead of rushing into a deal, Bregman would be evaluating his "priorities" before signing with a club.
MLB insider's take on Alex Bregman considering "priorities" to finalize a deal
The Chicago Cubs have already offered Alex Bregman an extensive offer of $156 Million, which he can accept anytime. Apart from that, multiple teams have reached out to Bregman with lucrative offers. However, Alex Bregman's choice of contract is primarily going to be influenced by his "priorities" heading into the 2025 MLB season.
MLB insider Jeff Passan made an appearance on the "Talkin' Baseball" podcast on Thursday, during which he talked about Alex Bregman using his "priorities" as an influencing factor in deciding which team to join and whether or not to accept the $156 Million offer from the Blue Jays. Sharing details into his take, Passan said:
"Six (years) for $156 million is still in play. Theoretically, would it take more for him to sign somewhere else, one would think. Is a three- or four-year contract with a higher AAV and an opt-out after years one and two more valuable than the long-term deal? I think we're going to learn a lot about Alex Bregman's priorities here and what's important to him. The belief is that he wants a long-term deal now, might not need any opt-outs." Watch

"He wants to be locked in, he's just not getting those years elsewhere at this point. But the closer we get to Spring Training, I think the more teams start to recognize, hey maybe we have this weakness here and we need to take advantage of this opportunity. Which is why I think at the end of the day Bregman's still going to do just fine. ... I don't know that he's going to end up in Boston," Passan further added.
Moving forward in the podcast, Jeff Passan evaluated multiple team options that Alex Bregman can consider for the 2025 season. Passan expressed how he is surprised that the Yankees haven't made any moves to sign Bregman, considering the fact that there are just a few weeks left until Spring Training.
Sharing details into his take, Passan expressed:
"It's wild to me that the Yankees aren't in on him. ... It's one thing to say no to him in November and December. It's a completely different thing when we're a few weeks away from Spring Training and the guy is looking for a job and the opportunity to sign him for a lower price is available."While Alex Bregman juggles through multiple offers, which team do you think he is most likely to sign with?
