Former two-division champion Conor McGregor is still waiting for his long-anticipated return to the octagon after the Ultimate Fighting Championship officially confirmed the historic White House fight card. McGregor had been strongly linked to headline the event against Michael Chandler on June 14. However, when the promotion revealed the full lineup on Saturday night, the Irish star’s name was not included. The announcement left many fans surprised because the matchup had been widely discussed for months.Instead, the main event will see Ilia Topuria defend the UFC lightweight title against interim champion Justin Gaethje. The card will also feature a heavyweight clash between Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane for the interim title. While Chandler still secured a place on the event’s undercard against Mauricio Ruffy, McGregor has once again been left waiting for his comeback fight.

McGregor suggested that he would be open to facing Oliveira in the future, saying he would happily take on the Brazilian star if the opportunity arose. He wrote, “If they want I’ll sp**k charlie”. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White confirmed to the reporters during the press conference that the discussions with Conor McGregor are still ongoing. The promotion is reportedly exploring options for the Irish superstar to headline another major event once a deal is finalized.The former champion recently appeared on the Smash Cast podcast hosted by Chael Sonnen, where he spoke about his frustration with the delay in confirming his return bout.McGregor also said that he believed that the UFC White House fight card event was going to be the stage for his comeback. He explained that the plan he had heard about involved him facing Michael Chandler, and he felt the idea had strong backing from people involved in organizing the event.
