NEW DELHI: Sandeep Sejwal and Virdhawal Khade will be looking to attain the 'A' qualifying mark for the 2012 Olympics at the 7th Asian Age-Group Swimming Championship which began at two venues in Indonesia on Wednesday and will run till October 13.
Virendra Nanavati, general secretary of the Swimming Federation of India, confirmed that a large squad which will have 17 swimmers besides two divers and the water polo teams (men and women) will leave for Indonesia on 7th October.
Sejwal became the first Indian to attain the FINA invitational Olympic qualification mark when he achieved it in the 100m breaststroke at the World Championships at Shanghai in July. Khade did the same in 100m freestyle at the same meet. But if they can achieve the 'A' qualification mark, their participation in the Summer Games becomes 100 per cent certain.
