NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the closing ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games on Aug 2, according to official sources.With India set to host the 2030 CWG in Ahmedabad, a formal flag handover ceremony will take place during the closing event. The ceremony is expected to be attended by leaders from both nations, including Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney.It’s been learnt that the organisers have reserved a 20-minute segment for India, showcasing traditional dance and cultural performances. The presentation will highlight India’s heritage, tourism, and readiness to host the event in 2030.The PM’s visit to the Scottish city is currently being planned alongside other international commitments scheduled for July.The CWG will begin on July 23 and conclude with a closing ceremony featuring a compact 10-sport programme. Sources indicate that Modi may first travel to New Zealand on an official visit in early July before heading to Glasgow. This visit is seen as an effort to strengthen diplomatic and cultural ties between India and Scotland.
