NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu's
Pratham Singh fired a game high 10 points as TN stunned Punjab 21-10 to make it to the quarterfinals.
While Tamil Nadu men registered a fastest triumph, Uttrakhand, the senior national champions, along with Chhattisgarh remained unbeaten with three wins to storm into the last eight stage.
Despite not being the top scorer for the day, Geethu and Anitha gelled well for Railways as the title contenders dominated the three games they played - scoring the requisite 21 points in all the games much before the final hooter of the regulation period.
In that process, Railways outclassed Tamil Nadu (21-10), Kerala (21-3) and Uttrakhand (21-6).
Former captain Vishesh Briguvanshi and tallest Indian cager Poonam Chaturvedi shared the honours on Day 1 of the first 3x3 national basketball championship which began at the Thayagraj Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.
While Vishesh led the charge for Uttrakhand with a total score of 29 points in the three games he played, the 6-feet-8 inches tall Poonam made good use of her height to rise above the likes of Geethu Anna Jose, P Anitha and Prashanti Singh.
