‘Victory will inspire countless’: PM Modi congratulates women’s kabaddi team for winning World Cup; India win final 35-28
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the Indian women’s kabaddi team for winning the Kabaddi World Cup.
"Congratulations to our Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for making the nation proud by winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2025! They have showcased outstanding grit, skills and dedication," PM Modi said in a post on X.
"Their victory will inspire countless youngsters to pursue Kabaddi, dream bigger and aim higher," he added.
India defeated Chinese Taipei 35-28 in the final in Dhaka to win their second successive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title. The team remained unbeaten through the tournament.
India began the match with a strong defensive structure and sharp raiding combinations, taking a slender lead in the first half. The team switched to a more attacking approach after the break, denying Chinese Taipei any chance of a comeback.
India won all their group matches before beating Iran 33-21 in the semi-final. Chinese Taipei also had an unbeaten run in their group and overcame Bangladesh 25-18 in their semi-final.
A total of 11 teams competed in the tournament, reflecting the growing participation in women’s kabaddi globally.
