Bronny James had a good year as he shot 47.8 percent from the field and averaged 14.3 points and 3.8 assists across four games in his second NBA Summer League. Dino Smiley, the commissioner of the Drew League, recently spoke with RG about the league's growth and the probability of Bronny James playing this weekend. He then said that Junior James might play in the Drew League.
Bronny James could follow in his father’s footsteps with potential Drew League appearance this summer
Playing in the NBA Summer League this month has given
Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James some invaluable experience. Now, he is prepared to gain even more by participating in the Drew League this summer.
He might join the Drew League this summer along with Dalton Knecht, and Cam Christie, according to the commissioner of the league. In a recent interview, league spokesperson Dino Smiley talked candidly about junior James' future.
In response to a question about the early speculation over which
NBA players might attend this weekend, he said:
"I’ve heard Bronny [James], but nothing clear on that yet. I heard Bronny might play. But nothing concrete. Earlier in the summer, there was talk about Dalton Knecht and Cam Christie playing.”
The interview then asked:
“If it happens, what would it mean to have Bronny in a Drew League game?”
Dino Smiley answered:
“I think it would great.
It would be interesting to see how he matches up with these guys. It would be interesting to see. Since his dad played a couple of times down here, who knows, maybe he’ll pop up there with him this weekend (laughs).”

Some of the biggest NBA legends have been in the Drew League, including Bronny's father, who made a notable debut in 2022.
LeBron James joined DeMar DeRozan in the pro-am league three years ago after an 11-year hiatus. In the MMV Cheaters' 104-102 victory over Black Pearl Elite, he scored 42 points and pulled down 16 rebounds.
Additionally, in celebration of
LeBron James' most recent appearance in the Drew League, his son wore the same Nike trainers his father wore during the California Classic earlier this month, three years ago. Now, Bronny James’ fans are eager to see him perform in the league.
