The Golden State Warriors remain the best team in the Western Conference, although there are grounds for further improvement. They are undersized, Brandin Podziemski is slow to find his rhythm, and De'Anthony Melton sprained his ACL coming out of the locker room. Perhaps they should be very cautious in The Bay and look to deal 31-year-old Norman Powell, who produces 23.3 points while shooting 48.7% from 3-point range. Steve Kerr has implemented a 12-man rotation this season to great success, but Podziemski’s slow start cannot be ignored. As the Warriors search for an upgrade on the perimeter to complement Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield, Powell is an obvious target.
Steve Kerr gives an insight on Brandin Podziemski’s injury
Brandin Podziemski, a second-year guard, is gaining popularity among the Dub Nation due to his aggressive style of play, particularly in the Warriors' recent win over the Hawks, which includes face-hitting as part of his hustle. Steve Kerr had a good laugh about Podziemski's elbow injury in his post-game presser. He claimed to be undeterred from supporting him after that light-hearted comment.

When a reporter asked how scary it was to watch Brandin take a hit to the face, Kerr replied, “It’s a frequent sight. I mean, he literally sticks his nose in there on every play. That’s why we love him. He’s so tough and physical, takes charges, he’s always battling for rebound, so he frequently gets hit in there.” Kerr also confirmed Podziemski did not suffer a broken nose after being hit in the second half, and lists him as day-to-day for the upcoming season.
Kerr appreciated Podziemski's efforts for the Golden State team, including diving into every play, taking charges, and fighting for rebounds. However, Kerr also highlighted that what makes Podziemski valuable goes beyond numbers, as discussed in his recent chat with Willard & Dibs.
Podz's shooting performance may not be as consistent as expected, but the Dubs' head coach acknowledges his young guard's contributions in finer details that numbers cannot capture. In 95.7 The Game with Willard & Dibs, Kerr stated, “He’s searching a little bit. This is not unusual for a young player to have a bump in the road. He’s such a good player. He just has such good feel for the game and for what wins. And even during his shooting struggles, he is playing at a really high level. But we know he can play a lot better and that’s exciting.”
