Victor Wembanyama’s full statement is out on the Minneapolis shooting incident. The San Antonio Spurs athlete gets brutally honest while sharing his opinion on the unfortunate incident. He clearly seems to back down from issuing any politically correct answers while being conscious at the same time of what comes out of his mouth. In his response, Victor also admits that the athlete is just a foreigner and is living in the country.
Several athletes and members of the NBA community have opened up regarding their views on the fatal Minneapolis incident. Tyrese Haliburton was among the first to issue a public statement on the issue on X. The head coaches of the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves also forwarded their opinions on the issue. Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, also took their respective stances.
He stated, “PR has tried, but I'm not going to sit here and give some politically correct [answer]. Every day I see the news and I'm horrified.” Victor further continued, “I think it's crazy that some people might make it seem like or make it sound like it's acceptable, like the murder of civilians is acceptable. I read the news and sometimes I'm asking very deep questions about my own life.” He also emphasized how he maintains the consciousness about what needs to be said and what not. “I'm conscious also that saying everything that's on my mind will have a cost that's too great for me right now, so I'd rather not get into too many details.” When asked if the question of strong repercussions is an issue and why people don’t share opinions, Victor replied, “It's terrible. I know I'm a foreigner, but I live in this counrtry and I am concerned.”

In less than a span of three weeks, there have been two killings in the Twin Cities. First, it was a woman named Rene Good and now, recently, it was a 37-year-old nurse, Alex Pretti. The back-to-back killings have led to a protest being generated by the residents of Minneapolis. NBA athletes and members have shown their solidarity for the protest. The San Antonio Spurs athlete, Victor Wembanyama, is the recent addition to the list.
