COLOMBO: India's Rizvi College qualified for the Red Bull campus cricket Asia finals by defeating Pakistan's Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology and Sri Lanka's Colombo University in two back-to-back T20 matches on Friday.
Rizvi College showed the flair with an all-round performance. Kevin Almeida played brilliantly to top-score for Rizvi.
His 39-ball 56 laid the foundation for a total of 181 that also had contributions from Siddesh Lad (36) and Kunal Dubey (14).
In their chase, Sir Syed University lost the momentum early when both openers, Rehan Azam (2) and Ali Meher (5), fell cheaply. But a 63-run stand for the third wicket between Waqas Mehboob (57) and M-Ali Sabri (32) put them back on track.
But again two consecutive wickets with 70 on the board pulled the brakes. A flurry of wickets soon pulled the curtains on Ali Mehar's team.
Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology, however, qualified for the final on the basis of better run rate. So, brace up for another India-Pakistan skirmish.
