Kerkar, Chitnis prop up DY Patil in Times Shield 'A' Division

Centuries by Eknath and Abhishek and their 222-run partnership in just 233 balls helped DY Patil 'A' declare at 643 for six against Indian Oil on Day 2 of the Times Shield 'A' Division.

MUMBAI: Centuries by Eknath Kerkar and Abhishek Chitnis and their 222-run partnership for the sixth wicket in just 233 balls helped DY Patil 'A' declare at 643 for six against Indian Oil on the second day of the Times Shield 'A' Division third round, at Nerul, on Wednesday.
Kerkar who was unbeaten on 52, went on to score an unbeaten 168 in 179 balls with the help of two sixes and 16 fours, while Chitnis hit one six and seven fours in his 110 ball-104.

Left arm spinner Rajesh Pawar took three for 146, while Paresh Patel took two for 83. At the close of play, Indian Oil were 124 for four, with Abbas Ali batting on 55. Off-spinner Ryan Ninan captured three for 35.
A six-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Vishal Dabholkar (27-7-62-6) was instrumental in restricting Jain Irrigation to 219 against Tata Sports Club, who got a 168-run lead in the first innings.
