Knight twins look emulate Bravo brothers
CHENNAI: West Indies women cricket team skipper Stafanie Taylor calls them the 'Knights'. The Knight sisters --- Kycia and Kyshona --- are identical not only in their appearance but also in numerous other ways. The 24-year-olds bat left-handed; are aggressive in their stroke-making and have undertaken tertiary level courses in Physical Education in Barbados.

If that's not all, even the infectious smile that lifts the team in practice also seems identical.
However, Kyshona is quick to correct that there is one notable difference in their physical appearance. "I am a shade taller than her," she says, before breaking into a smile. Kycia, a wicketkeeper-batswoman, broke into the national side in 2011 while Kyshona made the cut a couple of years later. "We take a lot inspiration from Darren and Dwayne Bravo. They have done well for West Indies over the years, and we want to do the same," says Kyshona.
Considering the camaraderie the two share, is there a room for sibling rivalry? "We work hard at training and give our best shot whenever we are in the West Indies side. Once back from the field, we discuss on the areas which can be improved upon in our respective games. As sisters, we have loads of fun in each other's company. I am Kycia's best friend, and it's the same in her case as well," points out Kyshona.
During the growing up years, the two made a mark not just on the cricket field, but also in other sporting disciplines such as football and athletics. The two credit the strong sporting culture of the Caribbeans for being hooked to various sports from a young age. "From watching cricket matches at the Kensington Oval to going for any other sporting events---we would be there. We both have grown up watching the legendary Brian Lara play some outstanding innings. Our school-Springer Memorial in Barbados---too laid a lot of emphasis on sports alongside studies. We both have been fortunate enough to represent Barbados in football, and have been part of athletic meets such as the CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) Games---which is an annual feature," reveals Kycia.
The duo have been regular feature in the West Indies line-up for the past few seasons, but the one moment that they cherish is the Super-Over win in the low-scoring Twenty20 game against Pakistan at St Lucia last year. "I hit a boundary off the last ball to help West Indies cross the line in the Eliminator and with Kycia at the other end, the nerve-racking win was extra special," says Kyshona. The duo will be taking a lot of positives from that game when West Indies play Pakistan in their World T20 campaign opener here on March 16.
