BANGALORE: The fresh Karnataka Premier League players' auction scheduled for Wednesday has been put off indefinitely.
With a majority of the eight franchisees writing to the KSCA that the planned kick-off date of September 1, 2011 for the third edition of the KPL, was unacceptable to them for various reasons, and the KSCA in turn seemingly agreeing with their viewpoint, the indefinite postponement was inevitable.
To discuss possible new dates for the auction as well as the tournament, a meeting of all concerned has been convened for Friday morning.
"Some teams were ready to play now but others asked for more time to market the event and we decided to call all the teams and discuss the whole thing,"
Javagal Srinath, the KSCA secretary told TOI.
According to an official from one of the franchisees, they are looking for a more convenient date sometime in January of February 2012, the rains in September being a major factor in their demand for the rescheduling.
"Yes, we will together look for an ideal date," said Srinath. "The franchisees also had some issues with the last edition of the KPL and want time to sort all that out."
The meeting on Friday is to be held over breakfast but the idlis and dosas may not be the only the only hot items on the menu.
