MUMBAI, January 15: Mumbai lifted the Vijay Merchant under-17 title by virtue of taking the first innings lead over rivals Punjab in the drawn four-day final at the VSS Stadium in Sambalpur, Orissa, on Tuesday.
Mumbai, chasing Punjab's first innings tally of 354, replied with 438 for five wickets by riding on a fine innings of 229 not out by Suryakumar Yadav.

Yadav's knock was studded with 38 fours and four sixes, according to information received here by the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Yadav, who was at the crease for 384-minute, also got involved in a massive partnership of 210 runs for the fourth wicket with Ankit Revandkar (59, 4x9) to pilot his team past Punjab's total, between lunch and tea, on the last day of the tie.
The duo joined forces at 148 and were unseparated till they took the lead and the stand was broken at 358.
