RANCHI: Neighbours of Indian cricket captain
Mahendra Singh Dhoni are eagerly awaiting his arrival with his newly-wed bride Sakshi Singh Rawat and expect invitation if he throws a reception party.
Dhoni got married to 23-year-old Sakshi, a hotel management student, at a private ceremony on July 4 in Dehradun, attended only by family members and close friends, including a few of his team-mates.
"We are ready with folk songs and other fun activities if only we are invited to his reception," said Richa, Dhoni's neighbour at the Harmu housing colony.
Dhoni surprised his large fan following by getting engaged to school-time friend Sakshi on Saturday and tying the nuptial knot next day at a farm house - Vishranti Resorts - about 25 km from Dehradun.
"We were not invited to their house-warming party, but expect an invitation if the family host a marriage reception," another neighbour VH Ambast said.
Asked how they feel to be neighbour of a celebrity, Sunita said, "Is there any doubt about feeling good?"
"Actually we are feeling like our own son has got married. We are very delighted," she added.
Two years ago, the Harmu Housing Colony had filed a case against Dhoni for constructing a swimming pool that the neighbours believed would deplete groundwater level.
But later they withdrew the petition. "Don't remind such things as those things do happen in one's life," another neighbour said when asked whether he regretted filing petition.
Meanwhile, Dhoni's fans are ready to celebrate his 29th birthday on Wednesday by cutting huge cakes, distributing sweets and other programmes.
