CHENNAI: PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf had a 'fruitful meeting' with
BCCI president N Srinivasan on Monday. Srinivasan had fallen ill during the IPL prize distribution ceremony on Sunday and was admitted to a hospital. Ashraf went to meet the BCCI boss in the hospital and it "turned out to be an informal meeting".
"I was worried about Mr Srinivasan's health.
But he looked better today and I hope he will get well soon," Ashraf told TOI.
Elaborating on the meeting, he said: "We discussed about the revival of bilateral ties between the two countries and the BCCI boss sounded extremely positive.
He said that he needs a little bit of time to convince different quarters of the BCCI before taking a final call on when the two nations will play again," Ashraf said.
When asked whether a probable date has been thought of, the PCB chairman said that it could be "sometime this year".
"We may play an ODI or T20 series this year and full-fledged Test series from the next year," Ashraf said.
He will be meeting Srinivasan again on Tuesday before leaving for New Delhi, where he will have more meetings for the next couple of days. "The BCCI has been extremely cordial and I enjoyed every bit of my stay here. We will have some concrete good news for you very soon," Ashraf added.
Meanwhile, the Governing Council of the Champions League Twenty20 is learnt to have approved the participation of Pakistan's domestic T20 champions
Sialkot Stallions in this year's event to be held in October at different venues in
India.
The CLT20 GC also discussed on the format of the tournament and other issues related to logistics. Apart from India, the GC has representatives from South Africa and Australia.
