Chetan Chauhan said the 23-year-old's 'B' sample also returned positive and, in all likelihood, he will have to continue to stay off the game for another year and a half.
"The
DDCA is yet to receive an official confirmation on the quantum of the ban but the BCCI's anti-doping body has suggested an eighteen-month ban," Chauhan said.
However, according to sources, the state association after studying the legal aspects of the case will decide if they can appeal against the ban. "We will sit down with Pradeep and his lawyer and go through every legal point and then decide if we can appeal to reduce the quantum of punishment," a top DDCA official said.
Sangwan, who was a part of India's under-19 World Cup winning team in 2008, was tested positive for a banned substance in July. According to DDCA officials, the left-armer took the banned substance with the medicine last year during his rehabilitation of a chronic shoulder injury.
