The Buffalo Bills enter the 2025-26
NFL season with renewed energy, backed by one of the most passionate fanbases in the league. Known as Bills Mafia, these fans are famous for their loyalty, loud game-day traditions, and unwavering support, especially at home. While the team opens the season against the Baltimore Ravens in Orchard Park, the excitement surrounding the franchise isn’t just on the field—it extends to the promise of a new stadium.
Why Buffalo is getting a new stadium and what to expect
Construction on the New Highmark Stadium began in June 2023 and is scheduled to open for the 2026 season. The $2.2 billion venue aims to deliver a more intimate, fan-focused experience compared to the current stadium. According to sources, the smaller footprint will allow fans to feel closer to the action while still maintaining the iconic energy of Bills Mafia.
Unlike fully enclosed stadiums, the new venue will be open-air but feature a 360-degree canopy covering about 65% of the seating. The canopy includes a snow melt system designed to prevent accumulation during heavy snowfall, ensuring that games remain playable even in harsh Buffalo winters. Additionally, the field will be heated, keeping the turf safe and playable late into the season.
A new chapter for the Bills and their fans
The team entered the season following a 13-4 campaign in 2024, clinching their fifth consecutive AFC East title and making it to the AFC Championship Game. With Josh Allen coming off an MVP season, the Bills aim to build on past success while looking forward to the opening of their new stadium. The combination of elite on-field talent and a modern, fan-first venue promises an exciting future for the franchise and the dedicated Bills Mafia community.
