When it comes to love,
Ciara has no time for outside noise. The Grammy-winning singer recently opened up about her husband
Russell Wilson being labeled “corny,” and she made it clear she isn’t interested in entertaining that narrative.
Ciara responds to Russell Wilson criticism with confidence and grace
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club on August 22, Ciara was asked how she feels about people calling the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback “corny.” Her answer was short but powerful.
“I don't even have to reply to that,” she said. “Why would I even respond to that, you know what I'm saying? I know what I know, and that's all that matters.”
The “Level Up” singer went on to praise Wilson, calling him “the most amazing human being you can know” and “the smartest, most intelligent Black man that I have ever known.” She emphasized that the man people see publicly is exactly who he is in private—genuine, grounded, and loving.
Why Ciara believes the criticism says more about others than Russell Wilson
Charlamagne tha God noted that some critics label Wilson as a “simp.” Ciara fired back, questioning the perspective of those who use such terms. “Well, I think it depends on…well, who's the man saying it? … Have you ever loved someone right? Have you ever been loved right?” she asked.
Rather than being upset, Ciara chooses compassion. “Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but we don't have to live, I don't have to live my life to prove anything to anybody,” she said.
