Cleveland Browns considering Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator

NEW DELHI: The Cleveland Browns are considering a familiar face to potentially take on the role of offensive coordinator, as they interviewed Ken Dorsey on Friday, according to a source familiar with the meeting. Dorsey, who was previously fired by the Buffalo Bills earlier in the season, played as a quarterback for the Browns from 2006-08. If hired, Dorsey would be joining a franchise that has seen numerous starting quarterbacks since its expansion reboot in 1999, with Dorsey being one of the 37 QBs to have started for Cleveland during that period.

The 42-year-old Dorsey, who also played for the San Francisco 49ers, has experience as an offensive coordinator, having held that position with the Buffalo Bills until his dismissal by coach Sean McDermott in November. The Bills are currently in the AFC playoffs, hosting the Kansas City Chiefs, with the winner advancing to face the Baltimore Ravens for the conference championship.

Cleveland's offensive coordinator position became vacant following the surprising departure of Alex Van Pelt earlier in the week. Van Pelt had been part of coach Kevin Stefanski's staff since 2020. The Browns, who were eliminated from the playoffs after a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round, also parted ways with running backs coach Stump Mitchell and tight ends coach T.C. McCartney.

The Browns are actively searching for a replacement, having interviewed Seattle offensive line coach Andy Dickerson last week for the offensive coordinator position. Dickerson previously served as an assistant coach with Cleveland under Eric Mangini in 2009-10 before spending the past three seasons on Pete Carroll's staff with the Seattle Seahawks.
