Tom Brady's legacy as a leader is undeniable, even as he transitions from quarterback to Fox broadcaster and minority owner of the Raiders. On the Let’s Go Podcast, Bill Belichick shared insights into Brady's time with the Patriots.
“With Tom, we had tremendous leadership year after year...and the expectations of performance on a daily basis were high,” Belichick said. “It wasn’t just big in big games; it was every single day.”
Belichick highlighted how Brady’s work ethic pushed teammates to perform better. Even with six Super Bowl titles, Brady stayed grounded, insisting on being treated as part of the team.
Belichick recounted a key moment: “Sometimes, [Brady] would even say, ‘Hey, make sure you include me [in criticism], because I want to walk out of that room being part of the group.’” This dynamic fostered accountability and unity, laying the groundwork for the Patriots' dynasty.


Brady now faces new challenges as the Raiders’ minority owner while maintaining his role as a Fox broadcaster. During the Lions-Commanders game, Fox host Kevin Burkhardt brought up Brady’s dual responsibilities, asking how he evaluates coaching candidates.
Brady’s response was measured: “What you realize is that the league is full of great potential. Resumes and accolades are earned on the field...you let your performance do the talking.” However, he avoided naming specific candidates, including Lions coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, who were reportedly on the Raiders’ radar.


The Raiders fired interim head coach Antonio Pierce after a disappointing 4-13 season and sought Ben Johnson to fill the role. Despite Brady’s involvement in the pitch, Johnson accepted the Bears’ offer instead, leaving the Raiders to explore other options.
Reports now link former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll to the Raiders' vacancy. Carroll’s track record includes transforming the Seahawks into Super Bowl contenders after taking over in 2010. While his coaching style contrasts with Johnson's offensive approach, Carroll’s experience could help rebuild the struggling Raiders.
Other candidates interviewed include Lions DC Aaron Glenn, Ravens OC Todd Monken, Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo, and Broncos DC Vance Joseph. For now, the Raiders’ coaching hunt remains wide open, with Brady’s role as a minority owner under increasing scrutiny.
