Hughes wrote on social media that he was “stunned” Allen Lazard stayed on the roster as long as he did.

He said Lazard “did not perform well on the field, had questionable practice habits, and rubbed some teammates the wrong way with the way he acted once Aaron Rodgers arrived.” These issues reportedly built up over time and made the situation harder to fix.



On the field, the numbers backed up the frustration. During the 2025 season, Allen Lazard played in 10 games for the New York Jets.

He finished with just 10 catches for 70 yards and one touchdown. He was on the field for about 250 total snaps, a clear sign that the coaching staff did not trust him in key moments.
