Throwback to the time when San Francisco 49ers legendary quarterback Joe Montana called up his wife, Jennifer, from the NFL sidelines only to say–“Hey. Love you! Gotta go. Gotta go back to work.” The 69-year-old quarterback was on the
NFL sidelines. He saw a phone. They were winning. And who does he call up? His ladylove! A perfect example of a hopeless romantic. A loyal lover of his lady. A husband whose first thought was, is, and will always be– his wife! The four-time Super Bowl Champion shared the whole lovey-dovey story with football analyst Pat McAfee in February 2024. It was chalked under NFL Films. It recently got resurfaced! So, what was the story? Let’s hear it from the lovelorn quarterback.

Joe Montana believed his wife, Jennifer, was his lucky charm
49ers QB Joe Montana was a thorough sensation back in the 1980s. The list of his laurels was a testament to how great an NFL player he was, but his one little fairy-tale-like incident on the NFL sidelines became a tribute to how great a husband he was, is, and will always be! Montana believed that his wife, Jennifer, was his lucky charm. He credited her when his team won the
Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1989 NFL season. To celebrate such outstanding wins, he called her up one day from the sidelines. Pat McAfee brought back that special memory and asked the 49ers legend, “Hold on, we’re talking about sideline antics. Didn’t you call your wife one time from the sideline phone?”

Pat McAfee called Joe Montana the coolest dude of all time
Joe Montana went back in time and narrated the goosebump-y, affectionate moment all over again.
“Yeah, I mean, I called her a bunch of times after that. But one time I was just sitting there, and I think it was in LA, was the first time I was sitting there, we were winning and I was going–Wow, let me see, if I hit 9, like any other place, right–you get an outside line, and I got an outside line, so, I dialed up my house–and she answered the phone. I said–Hey, what are you doing? She goes–I’m watching the game, wait, what are you doing? What are you calling me for?– I just thought I’d check and see if this phone worked, and if it dialled out, and it did. So, I thought, I’d call and say–Hey. Love you. Gotta go. Gotta go back to work.”
“You’re the coolest dude of all time!” –Pat McAfee declared.
