Mike Vrabel and his wife Jen showed up together, smiling, for son Tyler's engagement celebration over the weekend -- the clearest public signal yet that the couple is holding steady following the NFL coach's scandal with reporter Dianna Russini. Tyler and his fiancée Mariah Romano announced the engagement on Instagram Sunday. "The most perfect engagement surrounded by the people I love most," Romano captioned the post. Mike, Jen, and youngest son Carter all featured in the family photo.
How are Mike Vrabel and Jen handling their marriage after the Dianna Russini scandal?
The optics of that Instagram slide say more than any press conference could. Mike, 50, and Jen, married since 1999, flanked Tyler and Mariah on opposite sides — relaxed, present, and visibly unbothered. For a couple that spent part of April at an emergency marriage counseling summit in Park City, Utah, it's a notable turnaround.

That summit happened mid-NFL Draft, right after Page Six published photos of Mike and Russini holding hands and embracing at the Ambiente resort in Sedona, Arizona. They were also photographed at a pool together. Both denied any impropriety, with Russini saying she was there with friends on a hiking trip and Vrabel insisting he drove up with a friend to join the group.
Vrabel's initial response was sharp: "These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn't deserve any further response."
That position softened quickly. At a pre-Draft press conference, he said: "I take accountability for my actions and for the actions that caused distraction to the people that I care most about — my family, this football team, the organization and the fans."
The story didn't end in Arizona either. Photos from a 2020 night at Tribeca Tavern in New York City surfaced in mid-April, with an insider telling Page Six they were "kissing and all over each other." Then came 2021 images on a private boat in Tennessee - taken while Russini was pregnant with her first child.
Russini, meanwhile, resigned from The Athletic, though she pushed back on any suggestion of wrongdoing: "I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published."
Her husband, Shake Shack executive Kevin Goldschmidt, appeared publicly with her on Mother's Day, the two photographed kissing.
As for Vrabel, the Patriots backed him throughout: "The New England Patriots fully support Mike Vrabel's decision to prioritize his family first, as well as his own well-being."
The engagement celebration doesn't erase what happened, but it does show where things stand and for now, the Vrabels appear to be moving forward together.
