Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season continues with a heated AFC North rivalry as the Cincinnati Bengals hit the road to face the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field. With both teams eyeing a fast start in a loaded division, this inter-state showdown promises intensity, star power and playoff implications – even in September.
Top players to watch in today’s Bengals vs. Browns matchup
Joe Burrow (Bengals, QB): While Burrow is just 1-3 all-time in Cleveland, he’s riding a three-game win streak against the Browns overall. Coming off another strong campaign, the franchise quarterback will be looking to shake off Cincinnati’s reputation for slow starts and take command early.
Myles Garrett (Browns, EDGE): One of the NFL’s most dominant defenders, Garrett could wreak havoc against a Bengals offensive line breaking in a new starter at left guard. Expect him to line up all over the formation to create mismatches.
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins (Bengals, WRs): The Bengals’ explosive duo will test a talented Browns secondary. Look for Chase to stretch the field, while Higgins works the intermediate routes, especially if Cleveland's linebackers struggle in coverage.
Shemar Stewart and Demetrius Knight Jr. (Bengals, Defense): Cincinnati’s rookie defenders are expected to contribute immediately.
Stewart brings pass-rushing prowess, while Knight provides speed and range at linebacker.
What to expect: Bengals vs. Browns prediction
While the Browns have often beaten Joe Burrow in Cleveland, the momentum seems to be shifting. The Bengals come into this game on a three-game winning streak against the Browns and look stronger overall. To win, Cincinnati must slow down Myles Garrett, especially with rookie Dylan Fairchild starting at left guard. If the offensive line holds up, Burrow should be able to connect often with Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Mike Gesicki.
On defense, the Bengals match up well against a Browns offense led by veteran Joe Flacco and lacking big-play threats outside of Amari Cooper. Look for Cincinnati’s front seven to apply pressure and force mistakes.
