NFL Hits Jameson Williams with $19K Fine for ‘Unsportsmanlike’ Touchdown Tribute

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was fined $19,697 by the NFL for "Unsportsmanlike Conduct (obscene gestures)" after his touchdown celebration during his team's most recent game versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Williams executed a backward dive into the end zone, mimicking a famous move from Seattle Seahawks legend Marshawn Lynch. The move, which also included a groin grab, brought lots of attention and controversy, comparing it to Lynch's infamous jump that happened after his famous "BeastQuake" run of the 2011 NFC wild card game.
The odd dive was no spontaneous act of joy. Williams would later say he wanted to pay tribute to Marshawn Lynch, one of his football idols.
