Patrick Mahomes Sr., the father of former MLB pitcher John Rocker, was involved in a physical altercation with former NFL pitcher John Rocker on Bourbon Street during the week leading up to the Chiefs' 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59.
The video depicts Rocker approaching Mahomes Sr., an MLB pitcher himself, with a drink in his hand. He shouted, “What’s up dude?” Rocker tried to shake Mahomes Sr.’s hand, but he responded aggressively and seemed to shout something back at Rocker before the two began yelling expletives at one another while some friends separated them
Mahomes Sr. was escorted away by a friend, and Rocker threw his drink at him, but the confrontation was unclear and no punches were thrown. Mahomes Sr. is serving five years of probation with one year of "intense supervision" after pleading guilty to his third DWI charge in August last year, spent 10 days in jail, and had his license suspended for one year.
The altercation between Rocker and Mahomes Sr. is rumored to be a publicity stunt for Barstool Sports' "Rough N' Rowdy" boxing event. However, Mahomes Sr. has expressed his disapproval of Rocker on social media following the incident.
"John Rocker is a menace to society," Mahomes Sr. wrote responding to Rocker's post. "You really haven't changed one bit in the last 25 years. Keep my name out your loud mouth.”
