As the new year opened in New York, generosity rather than glamour defined one of the city’s most high-profile couples.
Russell Wilson and
Ciara quietly made a $3 million donation to Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital, signaling a deeply personal commitment to pediatric care that goes far beyond headlines or public appearances.
The contribution, made through the couple’s Why Not You Foundation, is designed to reshape how young patients experience long hospital stays. Rather than focusing only on treatment rooms, the funding targets therapeutic play areas and creative arts spaces where children can briefly step away from medical routines and feel like kids again.

Wilson has often spoken about how hospitals shaped his own upbringing. “You know, my dad was unfortunately always in the hospital, he had diabetes. My mom was an ER nurse when I was growing up. So, for me, I felt like, how I could make a difference somewhere," he said during an appearance on Good Morning America. That early exposure left a lasting mark and continues to guide how he gives back.

The donation will also help enhance the hospital’s common areas and children’s holiday shop, spaces meant to offer comfort during some of the most difficult days families face.
Wilson’s connection runs even deeper. He visits the hospital every Tuesday, spending time with patients and families away from the spotlight.
Ciara echoed the emotional weight behind the gesture in a statement, saying, “Russell and I are so honored and humbled to support the incredible work happening at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. Giving back through partnerships like this is a dream for us.
"Our mission with the Why Not You Foundation has always been to open doors and create spaces where young people feel supported and inspired. We’re beyond blessed to help expand these therapeutic environments so children and their families can experience moments of joy, creativity, and healing when they need it most."
For Wilson, the impact outweighs any professional milestone. “I want [the kids] to be inspired,” he said. “And I want them to take their mind a little bit off of the pain they’re going through.
“It’s probably been the greatest thing I’ve been able to do in my career so far,” he added. “It’s better than any touchdown or any trophy.”
