Seattle Seahawks’ top playmaker Sam Darnold just spoke highly of his team’s offensive coordinator, Klint Kubiak. Kubiak is reportedly leaving for the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2026 campaign. This move comes with a promotion, from OC to HC, along with a new team, a new quarterback, and player challenges. But who writes a report card of recommendation before the final stage of the current battle? Darnold vouched for Kubiak even before he was leaving for the Raiders. Kubiak still has to compete for the final stage, Super Bowl LX, but the talks are already happening. The deadline is here. The old cycle is almost over, and the new head coaching cycle is nearly filled. Still, it feels odd. Why now? Let the game speak. Let Las Vegas’ front office see for themselves. Anyway, what did the star signal caller say? Let’s hear him out.

Sam Darnold declares subtle details about supposed Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak

“He’s unbelievable,” Darold said at the recent press conference. “The things that I learned when I was with Klint in ‘23 just schematically and then getting to learn from him as a coach, as well, and a person, just the grit. He wakes up at insane hours. He gets to the facility at 4-4:30 in the morning, and he’s there later than anyone.
He’s a grinder. He loves football. And he’s very honest and forthcoming with his players, that myself and a lot of the guys really appreciate about him.”

Mike Macdonald finds Klint Kubiak leaving for Las Vegas bittersweet

Kubiak led his Seahawks into Super Bowl LX, but the outcome apparently would not decide his stay with Seattle. Just seven days before the Super Bowl, NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported, “After meeting Saturday with Las Vegas and Arizona, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak intends to try to work out a deal to become the next head coach of the Raiders.”The next day? Justin Melo of Seahawks Wire reported three perfect replacements for Kubiak: Brian Callahan, Kliff Kingsbury, and Greg Roman. The final battle is not yet decided, but the next season’s plans are reportedly already set.
How did head coach Mike Macdonald see it? “It’s a little bittersweet,” Macdonald said at the Super Bowl Opening Night media blowout at the San Jose Convention Center. “Because he is such a great person and great coach. We have a lot of great coaches, and those people are going to have opportunities, as well.”And how was the man of the hour feeling? “I can just tell you that I’m all in on the Seahawks,” Kubiak said. “I’m all in on this game. Whatever comes next, we will deal with that on Monday. I’m focusing on playing and coaching this game. I’ve been working my whole life to get to coach in this game.” Kubiak further shared, "I'm coaching the Seahawks in the Super Bowl, and that's all I'm really thinking about. I'm ready to coach the Super Bowl. I'm excited about this week, excited about this game.Part of another process [Raiders interview] that I'm not wanting to talk about tonight. We're all so focused on this game and our players deserve all of our attention for this game."The announcement is scheduled for Monday after the Seahawks play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, 2026.
