In a high-profile event celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles' 2025 Super Bowl victory, President Donald Trump took an unexpected swipe at pop icon Taylor Swift, reigniting their long-standing tensions. Speaking on the South Lawn of the White House on April 28, Donald Trump addressed the Eagles' hard-fought championship win over the Kansas City Chiefs — a game he personally attended — and made Swift the target of a pointed remark.

While commending the Eagles’ path to victory, Trump brought up Swift, who is famously dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “I was there along with Taylor Swift,” Trump said of the Super Bowl held on February 9 in New Orleans. Pausing for effect, he asked the crowd, “How did that work out?” He then repeated the question to laughter: “How did that one work out?”Though brief, the comment carried weight, considering Trump’s recent history of criticizing Swift. After she endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump lashed out on Truth Social, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He further criticized her during a Fox & Friends appearance, calling her “a very liberal person” and predicting she would “pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Jalen Hurts and several Eagles stars skip White House visit

The Eagles' visit was also marked by the absence of several key players. Quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts did not attend the event, along with teammates DeVonta Smith, AJ Brown, and many defensive starters.
According to NBC News' Yamiche Alcindor, the White House cited “scheduling conflicts” as the official reason for the absences.Despite Hurts’ no-show, Trump praised the quarterback, calling him “a terrific player” and acknowledging his pivotal role in securing the Eagles' second Super Bowl title.Trump also praised the team’s use of the “tush push” play and highlighted running back Saquon Barkley, who has faced backlash for golfing with the president recently. Trump gave players like Lane Johnson the chance to speak, further highlighting the camaraderie between the administration and the team. Also Read: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were caught in sick 's*x tape' scandal as misogynistic jokes spark furyWhile the visit aimed to honor the Eagles, Trump’s comments ensured headlines would once again blend sports with politics — especially when they involved one of the biggest celebrities in the world.
