Andy Reid is a good coach advisor to Chiefs' Andy Reid with 26 years as head coach in the NFL with 273 career wins. He boasts a healthy regular-season record and 28-16 playoff record with five Super Bowl trips and three championships under his belt. Former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick tops the list in all-time wins with six Super Bowl rings. With all his experience coaching, Belichick could share many things with Reid ahead of the latter's next game against the Eagles.
Bill Belichick’s thoughtful advice to Andy Reid
After locking up the AFC Championship on Sunday, Reid appeared on the "Let's Go!" podcast with Jim Gray and Belichick. And he was discussing if he can even fathom the history he is making with the Chiefs. In February, the Kansas City Chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles for their third consecutive Super Bowl.
Bill Belichick told Andy Reid how he nearly did three consecutive times with the New England Patriots, so the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Philadelphia Eagles for the first time in NFL history. Belichick discussed the possibility with Reid that winter could make a place for this NFL team in history. As Super Bowl LIX edged closer, he elaborated on the possible three-peat on the Let's Go podcast with Belichick and Jim Gray.
“You don’t really think about all of that until the media asks you,” Reid said. “You’re just in the grind, you’re trying to find the next first down, stopping the next team… You’re so busy doing that that maybe you look back on it when you’re retired or so and you go, ‘Wow, that was something really special.’ But right now, you’re into the guys, you’re into the team, trying to make the right calls, and so on.”
Belichick provided Reid with guidance on handling the significant moment. “That’s why you’re winning, Andy,” Belichick said. “Don’t look back. Don’t look ahead. Just stay in the moment and keep winning. You’re doing a great job, just stay in the moment.”
Reid took the 28th career postseason victory, only three points behind the record by Belichick of appearing in 31 Super Bowls, while Chiefs coach had a six appearance that was much behind Belichick who had nine Super Bowl appearances.
