Still, considering the season's way of playing out, who knows what surprises are still to come in the last few weeks? While some are figuring the injuries and great players playing out in the ups and downs in strategy, others are ready to take up the challenge. It is at this moment that the race for the playoffs heats up.

Top teams in NFL 2024 season and stats

Some teams are becoming firmer in their hold, while others hang perilously on their edges. Changes have been great in the week-to-week rankings. Offensive consistency, defensive resilience, and player impact have shaped trajectories for many teams. Whether it's the breakout star making a team, or injuries breaking one, the suspense keeps alive in the great American pastime.
Detroit Lions: A Historic Surge to the Top
The Detroit Lions amaze the entire league with goods contemporaneous starting a season which is the best since 1934, going eleven and one. It has secured its seat to be the number one seed in the NFC, thus opening the way for home-field advantage and a first-round playoff bye. It has all season showcased sublime offensive prowess with great defense leveraged into being one of the very best. Strengthened cohabitation for consistency on both sides of the ball, a large part of this revelation comes to expose that Lions have become solidifying Powerhouses in the NFL.

Kansas City Chiefs: Resilience Amid Questions
The Chiefs (11-1) won a match against the Raiders and solidified their position on the AFC table with that win. They are also already into the playoffs. Interestingly, even though their defense is ranked sixth in points allowed per game. It made many wonder with their recent performance against the Panthers that saw them yield 334 yards to a struggling offense. Kansas City now has four opponents, all of whom have winning records, and that sets it up for a rough and hilly path-heading postseason. Yet again, put all that aside, there's their mental strength and ability to win under pressure to keep the Super Bowl discussion going.
Buffalo Bills: Staying in the Hunt
With just five weeks left in the regular season, the Bills (9-2) have got a late bye week to help them chase the Chiefs in this playoff picture. They are within striking distance for a first-round bye and home-field advantage. Buffalo has also made good use of balanced offensive execution and a strategic rest week, preparing them for the playoff push ahead, though farther difficult challenges await.
Philadelphia Eagles: Soaring High with Momentum
The Eagles extended their streak to seven consecutive wins by crushing the Rams, 37-20. Saquon Barkley set an NFL record with his 255 yards in this game, including two touchdowns of 70 yards or more. Barring an explosion in the last game against a winning-record opponent, this team is set to break through the playoffs very likely as one of the top contenders from the NFC.
Minnesota Vikings: Grit and Determination
It was a real testament to their fight that the Vikings could steal an exhilarating 30-27 overtime victory from the Bears. Jordan Addison's 161 yards and one touchdown got it done for him. Minnesota possesses a grueling postseason set-up, including a possible Week 18 showdown with the Lions for the NFC North, ready to really see what they are made of.
