Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko is currently sidelined with a lower-body injury, and will not be part of the team's five-game road trip after the 4 Nations Face-Off break. The team will reassess Demko after returning from the trip, which concludes on March 1. Demko, last season's Vezina Trophy runner-up, made his season debut on December 10 due to a knee issue. His current issue is not related to his knee, but a groin injury.

Thatcher Demko is currently sidelined with a lower-body injury

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko will not be joining the team for their upcoming five-game road trip due to a lower-body injury sustained just 10 minutes into their 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on February 8. The injury is not related to the knee injury that caused him to be out for multiple weeks last season.
After Demko's injury, the Canucks opted for backup Kevin Lankinen, who led Vancouver to a win with 21 saves. With a 19-8-7 record in 34 appearances, Lankinen leads all Canucks goaltenders with a.905 save percentage and 2.53 goals-against-average. However, the Canucks' upcoming road trip with two back-to-back games may allow Arturs Silovs to make his own spot start.
Silovs, a 23-year-old Latvian, has been out of action since late November after appearing in seven of Vancouver's first 22 games. He had a 1-4-1 record and a.847 Sv% in those games, prompting a return to the minor leagues. Silovs found stability in Abbotsford, posting a 10-4-0 record and.906 Sv%. He served as Lankinen's backup when Demko missed time in January. Silovs could be rewarded for waiting but may not surpass the veterans ahead. Also Read: Vancouver Canucks defenceman Quinn Hughes will be joining the USA team as an injury replacement for Charlie McAvoyLankinen is expected to be a strong fill-in for Demko, who has been struggling with injuries. Despite a 3-1-0 record and.952 Sv% in his last four healthy games, Demko is still missing the team. The Canucks will return from a road trip on March 5 and face four games over a six-day stretch. This situation is similar to his previous struggles after recovering from a long-term injury.
