Adam Gilchrist next week, the budding basketball players in the city will soon have a shot at rubbing shoulders with a great as well. Kevin Durant - the hero of the Golden State Warriors’ NBA title run this year - will be in Delhi and Noida next month on a three-day visit to India.
Durant’s visit to India had been planned in February as the NBA wanted an active player to visit its new academy in NCR. However, since then, the 28-year-old has added a few more feathers to his cap, winning the league with the Golden State Warriors, and bagging the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy in the finals, making his visit even more special. On his visit to the capital, Durant will be interacting with the 22 kids undergoing training at the Greater Noida academy and will give them tips.

"The kids are really excited to meet one of the best players in the world," informs a source from the academy.
Although the academy has seen visits by the likes of Brian Shaw, Robin Lopez and Seth Curry, all of them have been prior to the operations being started there. Talking about being the first NBA player to visit the academy, Durant says, "I'm super excited about it. It should be a great time." But meeting the kids is not the only thing on the itinerary of the reigning NBA Finals MVP (Most Valuable Player). After his visit to Greater Noida and attending to some other commitments in Delhi, Durant will also be making a small detour to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. "Seeing the Taj Mahal has been on my bucket list for a while," says Durant while talking about his India trip.
