Former WWE star Shelton Benjamin made his AEW debut during the 5th-anniversary episode of Dynamite on October 2 as he joined MVP who signed a deal with the promotion before Benjamin’s debut. Now, AEW Boss Tony Khan confirmed Benjamin’s debut match date and rival as Benjamin is greeted up for action in the AEW.

Shelton Benjamin's AEW debut has sparked a discussion among wrestling enthusiasts as the former WWE star was released from the promotion in 2023. Despite the inherent surprise, Benjamin was not highly frustrated with his as he later revealed that he understands the business. While the superstar cherished his time in the company, nearly a year later he made his debut in WWE’s rival brand AEW.
Recently, AEW president and chief executive officer, Tony Khan has unveiled the debut match date and rival of Benjamin via his X handle.
In the upcoming episode of Dynamite on October 16 in San Jose, California, Benjamin will make his in-ring debut against Lio Rush.
Benjamin will be accompanied by MVP and will face Rush in a highly anticipated match this Wednesday on TBS after Rush's recent announcement about his return to AEW was interrupted by The Hurt Syndicate. This showdown marks Benjamin's AEW debut, setting the stage for an exciting clash.
Benjamin made quite a buzz during his AEW debut on the five-year anniversary episode of Dynamite. He interrupted a backstage conversation between MVP and Prince Nana, who was expressing his concerns about MVP's intentions regarding his client, Swerve Strickland. As tensions rose, Nana even hinted at dusting off his wrestling boots. MVP then introduced Benjamin as the head of the Hurt Syndicate complaint department, showcasing the powerhouse's arrival in AEW.
With his debut match, Benjamin is all set to start his in-ring journey in AEW with high anticipation among fans. As for Rush, he returned to AEW recently after renewing his contract with the promotion. He was declared as a free agent back in February 2022.
