Wrestling fans love nothing more than seeing their favorite legends together again, and that’s exactly what happened when Sting and Lex Luger reunited recently. The two icons, who ruled WCW for years, met at the Lexington Comic & Toy Con in Kentucky. But this wasn’t just a casual meet, this special moment came right after Luger received one of the biggest honors of his career.
WWE officially announced that Lex Luger will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania 41 Weekend. Cody Rhodes delivered the news to him, making it even more meaningful. With Sting already inducted in 2016, this reunion was not just about old friends catching up, it was a celebration of an honor for Luger due for a long time.
Lex Luger’s Emotional Reaction to Hall of Fame Induction
For years, fans have called for WWE to recognize Luger's contributions to wrestling. He was a major star in both WCW and WWE, winning multiple championships and delivering unforgettable matches. In WCW, he became a main character and held the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, while in WWE, he was pushed as a major event star with the famous “Lex Express” storyline.
Finally, the moment arrived, and
Lex Luger was filled with gratitude. He took to social media to express his emotions.
"Overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and congratulations shown by the incredible Wrestling fans, family, and friends!!! So honored and filled with gratitude. Thank you Lord!!!," Lex Luger wrote.
As of now, WWE has not announced who will induct Luger, but he joins a strong 2025 Hall of Fame class that already includes
Triple H and
Michelle McCool.
Sting and Lex Luger Reunite with The Hardy Boyz
Sting and Luger also reunited with
The Hardy Boyz, Matt and Jeff, at the Comic & Toy Con. Wrestling fans were overjoyed to see four legendary names together in one place. Sting later shared a picture of the moment on Instagram.
"Always good to see old friends [fist emoji] [scorpion emoji]," Sting wrote.
Sting and Luger go way back. They first faced each other in 1987 before forming a tag team that went on to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship. They also won the Jim Crockett Sr. Memorial Cup in 1988. Their last match as a team took place on December 8, 2002, in Dublin, Ireland, where they defeated Buff Bagwell and Malice.
Meanwhile, Sting also has a connection with The Hardys. On the March 23, 2022, episode of Dynamite, he teamed up with Matt and Jeff Hardy, along with
Darby Allin, to defeat Private Party, The Butcher, and The Blade in a Tornado Tag Match.
Nothing Less Than A Celebration for Wrestling Legends
This reunion couldn’t have come at a better time. Sting just retired after an incredible farewell run in AEW, and now Luger is receiving his long-overdue Hall of Fame honor. Seeing them together again, along with The Hardys, was a perfect reminder of their lasting impact on the wrestling world.
WrestleMania 41 Weekend is nearby, the fans are eagerly waiting to see Luger take his place in the WWE Hall of Fame. For longtime wrestling fans, this moment is more than just nostalgia, it’s about celebrating the legacies of two men who helped shape professional wrestling.
