After weeks of building major hype, WWE finally announced the debut of its newest signee, former AEW star Rey Fenix.
Rey Fenix has emerged as one of the most exciting luchadors in professional wrestling. He had been absent from AEW for a long while, but recently, he was released. A few weeks ago, WWE began airing vignettes that hinted towards Rey Fenix. On this week's edition of WWE SmackDown, his official debut was finally announced.

Rey Fenix is set to make his debut on WWE SmackDown

On the March 28th, 2025 edition of WWE SmackDown that took place in London, WWE aired another mysterious vignette. It was the same man who the fans had been seeing in the sunset light. But as the vignette was coming to its end, Rey Fenix was finally unveiled to the WWE Universe. The text then flashed that Fenix would be arriving to SmackDown next week, which will take place in Chicago, Illinois.

This makes the other half of the popular Lucha Bros sign with WWE after Penta arrived at the company at the start of 2025 from AEW on RAW. However, with Rey Fenix becoming a part of SmackDown and Penta being on RAW, WWE could have plans to push them as single stars at the moment. Moreover, Penta himself said in an interview that his focus right now was on his solo career, but he left the door open to reuniting with his real-life brother, Rey Fenix, in the future.
Rey Fenix and Penta were a renowned tag team in AEW and have wrestled in top promotions as 'The Lucha Bros.' However, Rey Fenix got injured and had time added to his contract due to the same. But at the start of 2025, it was reported that AEW President Tony Khan released him, alongside many other stars like Malakai Black and Ricky Starks.
Rey Fenix's beginning his singles career in WWE on SmackDown next week will surely be a sight to witness. However, his arrival has also given hope of seeing The Lucha Bros have a future run together in the global juggernaut. So it will be interesting to see Rey Fenix's new journey in WWE.
